Aryobarzan Regulation Dam Project

Project Purpose / Layout

The purpose of the dam is to regulate the flow released from the storage dam in order to operate the powerhouse and reuse the water regulated in the regulation dam reservoir for increasing the energy and supply the agricultural demands.

Geographic Location

The dam is being constructed 4.6-km downstream the Marun storage dam in Tang-e-Takab valley. The dam site is about 14 km to city of Behbahan and 220 km to city of Ahvaz in Khuzistan province. The dam site is accessible by Behbahan - storage dam asphalt road.

Project History

Harza Company carried out the reconnaissance studies on the project area 1946 through 1975. The phase I study was conducted by Water Engineering Services Company and Rome - Consult Company 1983 through 1986. The phase II study was conducted by Mahab Ghodss Consulting Engineering Company 1988 through 1991. The construction began in 2004.
