Rudbar Lorestan Pumped Storage Power Plant is located in about 100 km south of the city of Aligoodarz in Lorestan Province.

The pre-feasibility and feasibility studies of Rudbar Lorestan Pumped Storage Power Plant were performed by Ghodss Niroo and British Halcrow Company within the years 2003 - 2004. The feasibility studies of Rudbar Lorestan Pumped Storage Power Plant were performed by Ghodss Niroo and British Halcrow Co. within the years 2006 - 2009. Then, Mahab Ghodss - Poyry performed the phase-I studies from 2009 to 2012. In 2002, the detail design studies of this project were performed by Mahab Ghodss. The construction activities related to the access roads, tunnels and the diversion tunnel were started in 2003.
