Taham Storage Dam

Location

Taham Storage Dam Project is located in 15 km northwest of the city of Zanjan located in Zanjan Province. It is located 48o, 36' of longitude and 36o, 50' of latitude. The dam is accessible through national roads, railway and Taham-Zanjan Road. Taham River is a tributary of Zanjan Rud River which is one of the main tributaries of the River Ghezel Uzan.

History

The reconnaissance and feasibility studies of Taham Storage Dam Project were commenced in March 1986 and finished in April 1988 and April 1991 respectively. Then, the construction activities were begun in parallel to the detail design stage allowing for the vital water demand of the city of Zanjan. The dam construction activities were eventually finished in 2003.

Objectives

To supply drinking water for the city of Zanjan (about 30.7 MCM equivalent to 0.97 m3/ sec.)
