
Talvar Storage Dam
Location
Talvar Storage Dam is located in about 7 km southwest of the Village Hassan Teymoor around the City of Bijar located in Kurdistan Province. It has been constructed on the River Talvar flowing in Ghezel Uzan Basin.
History
Feasibility studies of Talvar Storage Dam were performed by Mahab Ghodss Consulting Engineering Co. in 1996. The construction works of the river diversion tunnels were commenced in the same year by Ferguson Co. Then, construction activities of the dam and appurtenant structures were started by Stratus Co. in 2002.
Objectives
- Irrigation of the downstream and upstream plains
- Supply drinking water for the city of Hamadan
