Hamadan wastewater treatment plant is located 10 km away from the end of the wastewater network and near Hamadan’s well No. 1 in a land with an area of approximately 100 hectares. Module 1 and module 2 are monitored by these consulting engineers. These two modules cover a population of 500000 persons (each module 250000 persons).  Hamadan city wastewater is a combination of domestic, industrial, and hospital wastewater. The principle is that the industrial units and hospitals have distinct water treatment plants based on the produced wastewater specifications and treat wastewater to a desirable level for urban waste water network. The effluent of waste water treatment plant is discharged into Simin Rood River, and will be used for agriculture and irrigation consumption. The produced sludge will be used in agriculture in the form of compost as fertilizer.

Hamadan waste water treatment plant was built in two liquid and sludge parts using step feed process and anaerobic digesters to stabilize sludge in four modules to serve 250000 persons; the treatment plant flow rate is about 640 liters per second. Two modules of treatment plant to serve 500000 persons with flow rate of 1280 liters per second are being implemented.
