Project lands
consist of Dosalegh, Erayez and Bagheh plains with a total area
of 54196 hectares, from which 14196 hectares is being irrigated
at present and 40000 hectares will be newly irrigated with a
total of 909 MCM allocated from Karkheh reservoir and 198 MCM
from groundwater resources.
The area will
be irrigated gravitationally by surface irrigation, namely,
furrow and border methods.
Special Features:
PMC canal 107
km long with initial capacity of 82 cms, 90 km of protective
dike for diversion of surface runoffs, 18 m deep excavation
along main canal in sandy soil and its slope protection with
concrete blocks as riprap protection, stabilization of sand
dunes with native vegetations and mulching.
